Why I Got Into Real Estate: Helping People Build a Future Through Homeownership
One of the questions I get asked fairly often is, “Why did you get into real estate?”
The honest answer is pretty simple. I want to help people become homeowners.
After 20 years in the Marine Corps, I’ve had my fair share of moves. I know what it’s like to pack up your life, move across the country or even across the world, and figure out where you’re going to put down your next set of roots. I’ve also experienced the process of buying homes, sometimes in unfamiliar places and under circumstances where there was a lot to figure out.
Those experiences shaped the way I look at real estate today.
I Believe Homeownership Matters
I believe that, when the circumstances are right, owning a home can be one of the most meaningful financial decisions a person can make.
For many people, a home is more than just a place to live. Over time, it can become an asset, a source of equity, and an important part of a family's financial foundation.
And that's where generational wealth comes in.
One of the things that motivates me most about real estate is the idea that the home you purchase today can potentially benefit not only you, but your children and future generations. Building equity, owning an asset, and eventually having something of value to pass along can create opportunities for the next generation that might not otherwise exist.
I don't believe homeownership is a magic formula for financial success, and it certainly isn't the right choice for everyone at every stage of life. But I do believe it is an opportunity worth working toward.
My goal isn't to convince everyone that they need to buy a house tomorrow. My goal is to help people find their path to homeownership when the time is right for them and to help them understand how that decision can fit into their bigger financial picture.
Real Estate Is an Investment, and Timing Matters
I think it's helpful to look at buying a home the same way you would look at any other significant investment.
You wouldn't invest your money without understanding what you're getting into. You'd want to know the risks, understand the potential benefits, and make sure the timing makes sense for your particular situation.
I believe buying and selling a home deserves that same level of thought.
When is the right time to buy?
What can you comfortably afford, not just today, but down the road?
Is this home going to meet your needs for the next few years?
Should you buy, or would renting make more sense right now?
And eventually, when is it time to move on?
Those questions don't have the same answer for everyone. That's why I wanted to become the kind of Central PA real estate agent people could turn to for honest guidance, not someone who is simply trying to make a sale.
I Want to Be the Person in Your Corner
Buying or selling a home is a major financial decision. It can also be an incredibly emotional one.
There are exciting moments, stressful moments, unexpected challenges, and sometimes a whole lot of uncertainty in between. I've learned throughout my career that having the right people in your corner can make all the difference.
That's what I want to be for my clients.
Whether you're a first-time homebuyer, a military family navigating a PCS move, a veteran looking to use your VA home loan benefits, someone relocating to Central Pennsylvania, or a homeowner wondering if it's time to sell, I want to help you understand your options and make a decision that makes sense for you.
Sometimes that means helping you buy.
Sometimes it means helping you sell.
And sometimes it means telling you that now may not be the right time and helping you figure out what needs to happen before it is.
To me, that's what being a good real estate agent is all about.
Finding Home in Central Pennsylvania
After spending so many years moving around the country and the world, I eventually found my way to Central Pennsylvania. Today, I live in Mechanicsburg, and I love being part of the community I'm also privileged to serve.
I specialize in Cumberland, Dauphin, York, Perry, and Adams Counties, helping buyers, sellers, military families, veterans, and investors navigate the Central PA real estate market.
Living in Mechanicsburg has also given me an even greater appreciation for what makes this area such a great place to call home. From the communities and neighborhoods to the people who live and work here, Central PA has become much more than just another place I've moved to. It's home.
And that's something I want to share with my clients.
Whether you're looking for your first home, your next home, an investment property, or a place to put down roots for your family, I'm here to help you navigate the journey.
Because ultimately, real estate isn't just about buying and selling houses. It's about creating opportunities, building equity, putting down roots, and, when the circumstances are right, creating a foundation for generational wealth.
That's why I got into real estate.
I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to work toward homeownership when the time is right. And when that time comes, I want to be the person you trust to help you make that move with confidence, good information, and someone firmly in your corner.
